Pohila Bohag, the Assamese new year has brought with it not only fervour and gaiety but rains and storms too. Various parts of Assam experienced heavy rains and storm-like wind on Monday morning.

Silchar witnessed heavy rains-storm in the morning, bringing Rongali Bihu enthusiasm a level down.

On the other hand, the storm and rains has also hindered campaigning for the Lok Sabha Elections and has also destroyed the police's temporary camps deployed for the elections.

In Hailakandi as well Campaign pandals have been devastated by the storm.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's campaign site have been completely destroyed by the rains in Vernerpur Tea Estate.
