Pratidin Bureau

The Kamrup Police has summoned the Editor of Asomiya Pratidin Nitya Bora for publishing a news story on Supari syndicate in the state.

The story had revealed many secret information regarding the huge and uncontrolled syndicate raaj, published in the largest circulated Assamese daily 'Asomiya Pratidin' on Friday.

On Friday, the Police has asked Nitya Bora to submit necessary evidence relating to the matter. As per reports, the summon has been issued by Kamrup Superintendent of Police, Parthasarathi Mahanta.

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) alleged that top officials of Assam police held a meeting with International Supari (Areca nut) Mafia at Hotel Taj Vivanta on Tuesday night.

It has been alleged in the story that a secret meeting was held at Hotel Taj Vivanta between Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district Manabendra Roy and supari mafias so that the administration couldn't interfere in the syndicate raaj in the state.

At a time when Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had announced the zero-tolerance rule of syndicate in the state, some top officials had shown the courage to hold meeting with the international mafias who are running the syndicate in the state.
