The Bongaigaon Police on Wednesday arrested one of their men for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl. Identified as Abdul Rejjak, the accused is a constable of Assam Police. He was arrested from Fakiragram area.

Rejjak was absconding since Saturday. A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Rejjak on Saturday. Based on a complaint filed by the family members of the girl, the Police registered a case under POCSO act and initiated an investigation to nab the culprit.

"Wewant justice. I want the accused to be punished as early as possible. I requestthe government to take stern actions against him," said a family member of thevictim.
