Prafulla Mahanta is not our leader: Phani Bhusan

Pratidin Bureau

With only a couple of days left for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections, the rift between the AGP leaders has become more and more transparent day by day. On Sunday, senior party member and Assam Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury said that former Assam CM and founder president of the regional party Prafulla Kumar Mahanta is no more the leader of the party.

Choudhury told media at Patacharkuchi, "Prafull Kumar Mahanta is no longer our leader. We the AGP have Atul Bora as our leader."

Unhappy over the alliance of AGP and BJP, Prafulla Mahanta had earlier announced that he would not campaign for any candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Notably, terming Congress to be AGP's primary opposition, Phani Bhusan Choudhury said, "As AIUDF has not fielded any candidate in Kaliabor, we sought their support for the seat." He further stressed that AGP's stand regarding CAB will remain same even after being in the alliance with BJP.
