Rajnath Singh to Celebrate Dussehra in Sikkim

Pratidin Bureau

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Sikkim on the occasion of Dussehra (October 24) and perform 'Shastra Puja' (worship of arms) there in a bid to boost the morale of the Indian troops.

The defence minister is scheduled to visit the LAC in Sikkim on October 23-24 and return after doing 'Shastra Puja' near the border with China, sources in the defence ministry said while quoted by India Today.

Rajnath's visit comes at a time when India and China have been locked in a fierce showdown over border standoff.

During his stay at Sikkim, the BJP leader would be launching a number of strategic bridges which have been built there, the sources added.

In 2019, Rajnath Singh had performed the 'Shastra Puja' to welcome the Rafale fighter jets which India purchased from France.

Rajnath Singh has been performing the religious rituals for the last several years including during his tenure as the home minister of India in the previous NDA government.
