Jayanta Hazarika Remembered On His 75th Birth Anniversary

Assam celebrates 75th  birth anniversary of legendary Assamese singer Jayanta Hazarika fondly known as Rana da.  A host of cultural programme's are being organised across the state today to mark the singer and composers birth anniversary.

A cultural programme is also being organised at Jayanta Hazarika Smriti Uddyan in Chandmari.

A number of singers regaled the audience by rendering evergreen numbers of Jayanta Hazarika at Chandmari.

Born in 20th Sept 1943, Jayanta Hazarika,  sang songs, wrote lyrics and composed music for several Assamese movies.

The youngest brother of maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika , in his short 34 years life span he created many legendary songs that are still widely popular today in Assam.

Jayanta Hazarika redefined the very term of Assamese music with his imaginative compositions that are a hit even today.
