Rekibuddin Ahmed on Asolpara Incident

Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed while interacting with the media on Sunday and commenting on the Asolpara incident said that those involved in the harassment of the dance troupe shall be severely punished.

He further said that the organisers had not taken proper permission from the loacl administration or the police to hold the cultural evening on the occasion of Eid.

Terming the incident 'unfortunate', the MLA also apologized the troupe for the incident happened in his constituency, which according to him is a hub of cultural activities.

"I am looking into the case, and immediate arrest order has been given to bring the culprits to justice. But let me assure you that the public is not involved in this. Many illegal operations are running on like gambling rings, for instance. The district administration is guilty due to their negligence to these illegal activities," Rekibuddin Ahmed said.

It may be mentioned here members of a dance troupe named Rainbow Dance Group were harrassed by the audience and the organisers of a cultural programme night on June 7.

As per reports, as soon as the dancers took the stage to perform, a few members from the audience and organisers asked the female dancers to do naked dance.

The troupe, however,managed to escape unhurt and lodged an FIR.
