Renowned army doctor Mahananda Medhi passes away

Colonel Mahananda Medhi passed away in Guwahati's GNRC hospital in the early hours of Thursday 

Born on September 7, 1943, Medhi hailed from Nagarbera.

After passing his MBBS from Guwahati Medical College in the year 1962-63, Medhi joined the Indian Army as a doctor.

Dr. Medhi was sent on deputation to Oman by the Indian Government and later he continued serving in the Royal Army for almost 30 years. He was Director Health Service Oman and Advisor to the Sultan of Oman.  Thereafter he returned to Assam in 2016 and continued to live at his Hengrabari residence. 

Dr. Medhi was a philanthropist, who loved farming and agriculture activities. He was associated with a number of social organizations including the Art of living foundation and was an avid collector of historical artifacts.  The Colonel is survived by his wife Dr. Santi Medhi and his son Gunajit Medhi
