Renowned personality Taburam Taid no more

Eminenteducationist, linguist, author and administrator Taburam Taid passed away thismorning in Guwahati's Apollo Hospitals.

A formerChairman of SEBA, Taid was born in North Lakhimpur's Gunasuti Oyengia Village.

AssamChief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his condolences on the demise ofthe renowned personality and has ordered the Chief Secretary to make allarrangements to honour Taid with a State Funeral.

Thelinguist was the founding president of the Mising Sahitya Sabha, a retiredprofessor of Cotton College, a Assam government's Sukapha Award recipient,Assam Sahitya Sabha's Bimal Jalan Award recipient and a Sahitya Akademi'sLanguage Honour Award recipient.Taid's last riteswill be completed in Gogomukh on land selected by the Mising AutonomousCouncil. His mortal remains will be taken to Lakhimpur in a helicopter, saidAssam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
