Rifles Recovered in Mayong

In a joint operation by Mayong Police and Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary officials on Saturday afternoon recovered two rifles from the possession of one Anarul Islam of Nekerahabi village.

Sources informed that Islam had concealed the rifles and would have later used for killing rhinos at the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.

Meanwhile, from the residence of Sofikul Islam of the same village deer horns were also recovered by the search team.

It may be mentioned here that Sofikul previously has been associated with rhino poaching.

The Mayong Police, over the past few weeks, have carried out several search operations in the areas and have recovered a number of several deadly weapons.
