Rs 96.05 Cr Project For Silchar Medical College

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) will soon get a new hospital with 500-bed capacity with a project cost of Rs 96.05 cr.

"The hospital building of Silchar Medical College has become very old and one portion has almost become irreparable.Keeping in mind the patient load, today we've approved a new hospital with 500-bed capacity for Silchar Medical College with a project cost of Rs 96.05 cr" : Sarma said.

SMCH, established in 1968, is a government-run medical college cum hospital in Silchar in southern Assam, one of the oldest medical college of North East India.
