Safety at stake in ISBT, Paltanbazar Railway Station

ThoughAssam Police has been continuously claiming that strict measures were taken toensure security and safety of the public in Guwahati following the grenadeblast on last Wednesday, the Railway Station and ASTC Bus stand as well as ISBTin the city are bereft of any security measures.

Notably, though funds are available to improve safety measures, there is no move to install essential security devices including baggage scanners and door metal detectors in the Paltanbazar Railway Station.

Similarly, in ISBT, even after the grenade blast, people were seen entering and exiting the bus terminus without having to go through any security checks. Also there were no door metal detectors in the ISBT. Most of the passengers enter and exit the ISBT through various gates.

Meanwhile, several passengers in the Railway Station as well as in the ISBT expressed their dissatisfaction about the security measures and demanded that the authorities take permanent measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
