SEBA to Introduce Commerce In Class IX and X

The Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) is setto introduce commerce as an elective subject for Class IX and X from the nextacademic session.

According to report, the board will introducecommerce textbooks for both the classes from 2020 and 2021. Sources from theboard said that they have decided to introduce the subject in the school levelto make a strong foundation for the students who want to pursue their higherstudies in the commerce studies.

The source further informed that the basic knowledgeof comerce like banking, accountancy, insurance etc. is the need of the hourfor every student and the purpose of bringing it for Class IX and X students isto prepare the students for future so that they can perform well in Class XIIand further.

It is to be mentioned that many students pursuecommerce in Class XII but as it is a complete new subject it becomes difficultfor some students to cope up with the subject. So, the board has decided tointroduce in Class IX and X for the convenient of the students.

SEBA has also introduced employment-oriented subjects like healthcare, private security, agriculture and horticulture from 2018.
