Shillong Greenwood Incident: Six-Year-Old Girl Tests Positive

Pratidin Bureau

The Greenwood Resort wedding group continues giving nightmares to the people and health authorities of Shillong.

In a latest and painful development, a six-year-old child, who reportedly is a contact of the said wedding group, has tested positive for the virus. She is the youngest person infected by the contagion in the state so far.

The Shillong Times quoted Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek as saying that the minor girl is a contact of the wedding group that had attended a wedding at Khanapara's Greenwood Resort flouting many protocols and restrictions in place.

The Minister also reportedly said that the minor was asymptomatic and was undergoing treatment at home. Her family members have tested negative though.

It must be noted that many positive cases so far have been traced to the wedding group, which has become an object of dread for scores of people.

Some were attendees themselves, while many others got the infected from the ones who attended the wedding.

It's mention-worthy that Shillong was under lockdown last Monday and Tuesday. During the lockdown, contact tracing was being initiated by the Health Department in its bid to contain the contagion from being spread among the community.
