Pratidin Bureau

In an untoward incident, a shopkeeper has allegedly kicked out a woman from his store in Assam's Biswanath Chariali for wearing jeans instead of burqa.

The girl, who reportedly belonged to a Muslim family, went to buy earphones at his store, after which the owner insulted her and kicked her out.

The shopkeeper, identified as one Nurul Amin, hails from Nagaon. He runs a mobile accessories shop in Biswanath's 12 no ward.

According to locals, Nurul has a record of commenting of girl's outfit and insulting them if they don't wear burqa.

Later, the girl's father reached the store and confronted Nurul for his behavior. But Nurul's son Rafikul Islam allegedly manhandled the girl's father.

Both the accused were detained after a case was registered against them.
