Sonowal Asks WRD to Complete Repairing Works of Embankments

Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal today directed the Water Resources Department and other linedepartments to remain fully prepared to tackle the onslaught of seasonal floods.

Reviewing the floodpreparedness of the Water Resources Department at Janata Bhawan today, the Chief Minister asked the Water Resources Departmentto complete the remaining schemes of embankments on a war footing.

CM also directed to form three special teams to visit upper Assam, lower Assam and Barak valley. The teams will take stock of flood management in various parts of the state.

The Chief Minister directedthe Water Resources Department to maintain the highest order of vigilanceduring the flood season to ensure safety in river embankments and to storeadequate flood fighting materials near vulnerable points.

He also emphasized that during flood season the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department along with other line departments and district administrations should keep essential items ready to meet any exigency.

Sonowal directed the power department officials to check all electric lines, poles and transformers to avert any such incident.
