Sonowal Gives Substandard Comment on NRC: Upamanyu

Reacting on National Register of Citizens' (NRC), Senior Advocate Upamanyu Hazarika said that the BJP and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's statement saying that the NRC is not an error-free is a substandard comment.

Hesaid that this kind of statement is not acceptable now when there are only afew days left to publish the final NRC.

Hazarikasaid that it is the government officials who have done the upliftment work ofNRC and now the government is saying that the NRC is not an error-free NRCcompletely because of political benefit. He said that this type of statement bythe government and the chief minister cannot be accepted.

Hefurther raised question as who will take the responsibility of inclusion offoreigners' name in the NRC claiming that the government wants to cut off fromsuch responsibilities.
