ChiefMinister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday ordered a probe into the shockingincident of assault of the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Kokrajhardistrict, Sailen Das. Lower Assam Commissioner Meenakshi Sundaram willinvestigate the incident.

It may be mentioned here that the incident took place on September 9, when Kokrajhar SP Rajen Singh and Sailen Das went for dinner in a hotel. The CCTV footages revealed that Singh dragged Das out of the hotel and thrashed him.

The SP also slapped the ACS officer, and pushed him to the ground, causing him injury. Das then tried to flee the scene, but he couldn't escape from the situation.

The incidentdrew sharp reactions among concerned citizens.
