Storm In Parliament On Day 2 Over Assam’s NRC draft

Pratidin Bureau

The NRC of Assam today rocked the Rajya Sabha as the Congress and Trinamool Congress alleged that a systematic ethnic cleansing even as BJP and well supported Biswajt Daimary of BPF tried to place the matter in perspective.

The leader of the opposition in Rajy Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad had started the debate saying that the NRC exercise was 'tardy' and because of which 40 lakhs became stateless.

Opposition leaders cutting across the party line blamed Government of creating a situation which could roll out of control.

As BJP leader Amit Shah was responding to the debate saying that it was done as per the Assam Accord, the Trinamool Congress and Congress member s trooped into the well disrupting the house. This led to the adjournment of the Rajya Sabha.
