In the latest incident of assault on a college girl of Demow College has led to widespread protests across the area. Local residents took to the highway to register their protest. They even blocked the highway over the issue, said sources.

Under the aegis of AASU (All Assam Students' Union), ATASU (All Tai Ahom Students Union), Assam Tea Student Association (AATSA), All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam (AASAA), a massive protest has been staged on Friday.

As per reports, Priya Das – a student of Demow College was viciously attacked by a woman on Wednesday.

"We are fighting for our sister. She has been denied justice by the police. We are ready to go to any extent for ensuring justice to our sister," : Protesters said.
