Swine Flu outbreak: Mizoram bans pigs import

With the outbreak of swine flu which costed lives of thousands of pigs in Mizoram, the state government has banned import of pigs and piglets.

According to officials, the government has instructed all deputy commissioners of eight districts to issue prohibitory orders to ban import from other countries.

The disease has cost the lives of over 10,000 pigs in Mizoram since 2013 and as per reports it is being suspected to have happened due to import of pigs and piglets from Myanmar where the disease was known to be prevalent, said officials.
