Tea Workers Stage Road Blockade in Bokakhat

Pratidin Bureau

The tea workers in Bihora at Bokakhat have staged a road blockade demanding a 20% bonus instead of 8.33 percent which the government announced earlier this month.

Variouspolitical and non-political organizations urged the tea industry as well as thestate government to pay the maximum 20% puja bonus to the workers.

Theorganizations said that these workers are already deprived from getting theirrequired amount and reducing the puja bonus is a sheer deprivation from gettingtheir amount.

Thegovernment and the tea garden owners should therefore give them the actualbonus which they are getting.

Thetea labourers have blocked the road in protest against the government anddemanded to provide them 20% bonus.

Thecommunication in the area has been interrupted due to the road blockadeprogramme.
