Three arrested for using minor as prop during Congress’ protest rally

Pratidin Bureau

Police have arrested three people in Assam for using a minor girl as a prop in a Congress rally against the government.

The Lakhimpur police has filed a case on the issue as the little girl was dragged around the town while being made to sit on a Dhokua (dried betel-nut tree leaf) in the scorching heat throughout the protest rally.

The police have reportedly arrested local Congress leader Jitumoni Barua, the child's mother, and a local journalist named Kumud Barua.

The Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights reportedly notified the police about the incident after learning of the matter.
