TMC inaugurates office in Guwahati today

Pratidin Bureau

West Bengal urban affairs minister Firhad Hakim inaugurated a Trinamool Congress office in Lalganesh Guwahati on Thursday. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's senior-most minister, Hakim said, "We will not compromise on national security, but we will not tolerate oppression of common people in the name of national security."

The party said it will "stand by the suffering people of Assam who have been left out of the draft National Register of Citizens or NRC."

Trinamool Congress has been  attacked by the BJP for vote bank politics over NRC at the risk of national security.

It is to be mentioned that on August, five FIRs were registered in Assam against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and members of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) delegation, which went to Silchar for allegedly creating disturbances on the basis of religion in relation to NRC.
