Toll Gates to Reopen in Assam: CM Patowary

The Government of Assam has decided to reopen the toll gates in the State.

"If the state government doesn't follow the order issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India, will not get central assistance for road repairing in the state" : Chandra Mohan Patowary said.

Meanwhile, the Minister said that the premier investigating agency of India 'Central Bureau of Investigation' (CBI) is ready to investigate the Syndicate Raj in various sectors in the state.

Patowary said the Assam Government had written to the CBI asking it to probe the ongoing Syndicate Raj in the state.

The opposition Congress haddemanded a CBI inquiry into the Coal scam claiming that the Assam government wasinvolved in it.

Since February last year, theCID of Assam Police is investigating illegal coal trading in the state.

The Chief Minister formed astate-level monitoring committee on the syndicate, which takes a report fromthe Deputy Commissioners and SPs of the districts on a daily basis.

On Congress MP PradyutBordoloi's allegation that coal syndicate is continuing with support from theChief Minister's Office, Patowary dismissed the charge as baseless.
