Travel to and from Assam will soon get expensive as the government has decided to reopen the toll gates in the State.

One of the major toll gates in the State is that in Raha, Nagaon. The toll gate was closed for more than 3 years now following protests from Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti. This also led to all other toll gates being shut down in the State.

The Raha toll gate has been handed over to private company named Inderdeep Constructions. The company will have to pay a daily sum of Rs 10.59 lakhs to National Highway Authority of India.

The private company has been ordered to deposit an advance amount equal to that of 14 days.
