Pratidin Bureau

In continuation of the protests in several parts of State demanding withdrawal of the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, several people took out a massive torchlight procession throughout Chapanala in Nagaon on Tuesday evening.

"The bill was an attempt to destroy the identity of the indigenous people of the State," said a citizen participating in the event and added, "It is a threat to our State and region."

Meanwhile, the protestors also demanded immediate release of pro-talk ULFA leader Jiten Dutta and Mrinal Hazarika, who were detained by the police on November 2. The protestors also voiced against Hojai BJP MLA Shiladitya Dev, who have been continuously advocating the Bill.
