Pratidin Bureau

Protesters tried to put up blockades on railway tracks this afternoon in order to disrupt train services in Sivasagar, as part of the protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill.

As per reports, activists of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti and All Tai Ahom Students Union (ATASU) tried to prevent train movement of Tinsukia- Lumding express (DW) at Amguri in Sivasagar.

Police officials said that the demonstrators, who were trying to prevent train movement by sitting on tracks, were being evicted.

Demonstrators also burnt tyres on roads at various places across the state, the police said.

Today is being observed as Black day in Assam and 70 organisations have come forward with black flags to protest against Centre's decision to implement the Bill.
