“Treatment to Akhil is Worse” – Lurinjyoti Gogoi

Pratidin Bureau

The alleged unacceptable treatment meted to Akhil Gogoi and his associates has triggered a row in Assam. Social media campaigns have started in favour of the peasant leaders who were imprisoned in Guwahati Central Jail in connection to the anti-CAA protests until two of them turned positive for the virus and eventually moved to GMCH for treatment.

General Secretary of AASU has now come out in support of Akhil Gogoi and against the alleged fascist tendencies of the ruling government

He took to twitter and wrote, "The treatment meted out to #AkhilGogoi in a democratic republic is worse than what we can expect to happen in a dictatorship. This kind of suppression of #dissenting voices is unacceptable and I have repeatedly stood against such atrocities and fascist tendencies…"

Gogoi further added, "will continue to do so. I take this opportunity to once again demand the immediate release of Akhil Gogoi and all other jailed anti-CAA protestors."

Earlier in the day, Chief Advisor of AASU Samujjal Bhattacharjya also tweeted in this regard and demanded the best care for Akhil and his associates.

Bhattacharjya also demanded the immediate release of Gogoi, who is presently in Guuwahati Central Jail.
