Two Bangladeshis detained at Bokajan

At a time, when Assam is on the boil after Narendra Modi-led BJP government in the Centre has passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha, clearing the path for Bangladeshi migrants to get Indian citizenship; two Bangladeshis detained at Bokajan on Thursday night.

Acting on a tip off, a team of Bokajan police detained two Bangladeshis from Hukanjan area. The detainees were identified as Mohammad Raju Khandakar and Mohammad Shahidul Khandakar.

Though the Bangladeshis have not uttered a word in front of the media persons, the Bokajan police informed that Mohammad Raju Khandakar is a resident of Jaipurhat and Mohammad Shahidul Khandakar is a resident of Bagerhat area of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, police registered a case under 14 A (b) Foreigners Act 1946 and said that the investigation is underway.
