Two ex-MLAs join Assam Congress

The Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati was abuzz with activity on Republic Day, as two leaders and former MLAs joined the Congress party on Saturday. In uplift to the Congress ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, former Congressmen Hiranya Bora and former MLA from regional party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Mukunda Ram Choudhury formally joined the party.

Notably, the former Dhekiajuli MLA, Hiranya Bora had left the Congress party in June 2015 alleging autocratic style of functioning by the leaders.

On the other hand, Mukunda Ram Choudhary was the member of the 13th Assam Legislative Assembly for Kalaigaon Assembly constituency from 2011 to 2016. He was elected from AGP.

Meanwhile, expressing happiness over the joining of two leaders, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) said that both the leader's experience will be useful for the party in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
