Unhappy with alliance, AGP workers protest across Assam

Security has been beefed up at the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) office in Ambari, Guwahati amid the rising protest by its workers across the State. The party workers in Jorhat, Nagaon, Tezpur, Dhakuakhana have staged protest against the leaders of the regional party and shouted slogans against their decision to contest the coming LS polls along with BJP.

Jorhat workers of the party threw the portraits of Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and Phanibhusan Choudhury out of their office in protest against the alliance. Also party workers from Lakhimpur have also decided not to co-operate BJP candidate in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, Lachit Bordoloi, who resigned the regional party following the announcement of alliance with BJP in the LS polls, has announced to launch another regional party in a press conference.

Similarly, former Minister Girindra Kumar Baruah resigned from the executive member of party on Saturday.
