United opposition to CAB saved NE: Akhil

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader, Akhil Gogoi on Thursday termed RSS and BJP as the prime enemy of the people of Assam. He also said that unity of opposition political parties regarding the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill have saved Assam and northeast.

Commenting on the lapse of CAB in the Rajya Sabha, the KMSS leader said that it was a victory for the people of Assam. He acknowledged the contributions of the members of all the 70 organizations, who continuously protested against the much debated Bill.

Gogoi also informed that the organizations will now move to Supreme Court in opposition to the Notification and order issued on September 7, 2015. Notably, the notification was issued under the Foreigners' Act, 1946 and Passport (Entry to India) Act 1920 by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

Meanwhile, the members of the 70 organizations observed 'Vijay Utsav' near Guwahati Club area in the City.
