Upamanyu Hazarika lambasts Himanta, BJP

Pratidin Bureau

Senior Advocate and Prabajan Virodhi Manch (PVM) convener Upamanyu Hazarika lambasted Finance Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma and  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday and said that Himanta is playing the prime role in destructing of the state.

Launching a vicious attack on BJP, Hazarika said that both BJP and Himanta are playing an emotional game with the people of Assam.  They talk of encroachment and evacuation of the Xatras lands, however they have done nothing to free those lands in the last 32 months of their rule in Assam.

Addressing a press conference, Hazarika alleged BJP of spreading lies and said , "BJP on 2013 talked about 77420 bigha of lands being encroached at Sipajhar, but by 2018 the number reduced to 23000 bighas. However, there has been no evacuation at the area so far". He also alleged that BJP wants to settle the Bangladeshi's in those areas.

The Senior advocate also said  that Arnamai Bora's daughter didn't get compassionate appointment even after it was promised by the government. However after All Bodo Minority Students Union (ABMSU) president Lafikul Islams death , two members of his family were given jobs by the government.

Hazarika also lashed at the Finance Minister for targeting the media persons and accused him of distracting the people from the actual issues.
