Water Level Rising In Ranganadi dam

Pratidin Bureau

The Lakhimpur district administration issued a fresh alert about water release from the Ranganadi Hydro Electric Power Project, triggering panic among the residents living along the Ranganadi river banks.

The NEEPCO's Ranganadi Hydro Electrical Project (RHEP) has opened its gate no 4 as the capacity of the reservoirs has crossed its limits. Due to incessant rain in the upper catchment, the reservoirs were almost filled up in no time.

Neepco clarified that the dam cannot absorb the water beyond its capacity at any point of time and rather, it contributes to flood moderation. The release of water from the dam is mandatory.
