Reacting to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's remark on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the leaders of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Wednesday said that the party has opposed the Bill since it was tabled in the Lok Sabha. AGP president Atul Bora said that they are with the people of Assam.

The AGP leaders took part in the last rites of the former Minister Biraj Sharma, who passed away on January 15. The AGP leaders and members paid their last tribute to Sharma at the party's headquarters in Ambari on Wednesday. He was one of signatories of the Historic Assam Accord.

On the other hand, senior AGP leader and former Assam CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta targeting CM Sonowal said, "People who have trust in regionalism, do not surrender before nationalism."

Meanwhile, Dispur BJP MLA, Atul Bora reiterated his stand on opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. "I have been opposing the Bill and will continue to oppose it," said the senior leader.
