Two months have passed since the brutal lynching death of Abhijieet and Nilotpal, but the charge sheet of the police is far off, since forensic report has been awaited.

This incident of mob lynching in Kangthilangso had shocked not only the region but also had stirred reaction throughout the country and beyond.

It may be noted here that till now Police has arrested 48 persons involved in the crime. Out of them, 47 have been lodged into the Diphu prison and one among them, identified as a juvenile, has been kept in Jorhat Juvenile prison.

The Gauhati High Court has directed the police to present the case diary before the court within a span of 90 days.

On the other hand, the police are waiting for the report of the exhibits sent to the Forensic Department for examination.

"The investigation is almost complete. We are waiting for an expert opinion from the Forensic Science Laboratory to which we had sent them precisely 42 exhibits. We are waiting for those exhibits' examination report. Otherwise, recording statements, investigation and updating case diary are complete", said Karbi Anglong SP Dr GV Siva Prasad.

Prasad further added, "Once the report arrives we will file the charge sheet. We want to assure that we want to conduct the investigation with utmost sincerity and there will be no lapse at any point. The Government is also supportive of the case".

"ADGP (Law and Order) Mukesh Agarwal has been monitoring the case and I am sure that justice will be done", assured the SP.

However, Nilotpal's father is not satisfied with the role of police in the investigation process. He has alleged that the police, who ensured to file a charge sheet within 60 days, has not yet filed one.

Speaking to Pratidin Time, Nilotpal's father expressed his fear of this case too following the path of the Jhankar Saikia's mob lynching case.

With less than 30 days to go for the court stipulated time frame of 90 days, the police have to pull up their socks and procure the forensic report for an early charge sheet.
