Why is Basistha Police silent?

Pratidin Bureau

Four days has passed since one Assamese truck driver was attacked by two non-Assamese coal mafias on February 21.

The driver identified as Tapan Borah was mercilessly tied and beaten up at the orders of his boss, namely, Ashok Nath and Ramesh Rai, for not delivering the coal consignment in proper place.

It may be noted that the Basistha Police has yet not taken any action against the coal mafias.

What is striking here is, whether the police is scared of what the mafias can do or is it that the police themselves are involved in the cartel?
