The wineshops in the State will be closed again with immediate effect. The Governmentof Assam is likely to issue a notification regarding the closure of liquorshops. According to excise department officials, the liquor shops will beclosed till 3rd May.

The Excise department took the decision to shut down the liquor shops after an order from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The MHA ordered the closure of all liquor shops, bottling plants and distilleries till further notice.

It maybe mentioned here that the liquor shops in Assam were allowed to open from 13thApril.
