Zubeen fan murdered, thrown in the Brahmaputra

A die-hard Zubeen fan and self-styled president of Zubeen Fan Club Ashim Barua was murdered and thrown in the river Brahmaputra

According to reports, a youth named Ashim Baruah, a resident of Jorhat, has been missing since July 15. he was last spotted leaving his office in the office CCTV and after that, there were no signs of him. He is a social media activist and used to look after Zubeen's fan base in the social media.

The unusual part of the incident is Baruah allegedly handed over his mobile phone to a 'chandal' and said 'Aahi Aasu' , meaning that he would return in a while. However, he did not return and has been missing since then.

A complaint has been lodged at the Bharalumukh Police Station. The police had detained the 'Chandal' on doubts of being involved in the murder of the youth and throwing the body into the Brahmaputra.

However, reports have come in that the detained 'Chandal' has confessed during the interrogation of murdering Ashim and threw him into the Brahmaputra while he was still alive. The motive behind the act is still not known.

The miscreant 'Chandal' has been identified as Bhagirath Sarkar.

NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed for a search operation in the river.
