Guwahati blast: NIA takes up suo-moto investigation

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken up a suo-moto investigation on the Wednesday's bomb blast at Guwahati which left 12 persons with injuries.

The suspected ULFA attack, members threw a grenade in front of Guwahati Central Shopping Mall this evening at 2000 hours, left at least twelve persons injured, with three of them in a critical condition.

The DGP vowed to nab the culprits as 12 people were injured in the blast as the Grenade was thrown by two motorcycle-borne terrorists.

Father-Daughter duowas shifted to Nemcare Hospital by the family while four are in GMCH and fiveare KGMT Hospital. One of the injured in KGMT is in ICU as splinter hit him inthe back.

Chief MinisterSarbananda Sonowal also called up DGP Saikia and asked them to nap the culpritat the earliest. Assam Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya and Piyush Hazarikavisited the spot and injured in the hospital.

The eye witnessinformed that the police was conducting search operation on the two-wheelers infront of the Central Mall when the bike approached and fearing imminentnabbing, they threw the grenade.

The Police suspectedthat they had come to throw the grenade in some other areas but could not dueto the police check post.
