1st Death of COVID-19 Reported in UP

Uttar Pradeshreported its first coronavirus-related death on Wednesday after test reports ofa 25-year-old man, who died two days ago, came COVID-19 positive.

The man was admittedto the BRD Medical College on Sunday and he was suffering from kidney and liverproblems, the institute's principal Ganesh Kumar said.

Kumar said that whether the patient died due to thecoronavirus has not been ascertained yet. He stated that the patient showedsymptoms of COVID-19, but the test reports came after he died on Monday.

"The sample of the patient was found positive for thecoronavirus," an official of the King George's Medical University said inLucknow.

The man hailed from Basti in Uttar Pradesh.

The two lab technicians, who had taken his samples, have beenadmitted to the quarantine ward of the hospital as a precautionary measure, saidKumar.

The deceased was suffering from liver and kidney ailments forthe last three months, he said.

Ganesh Kumar informed that the man came to the hospital onSunday evening.
