8 States achieve 100% electrification under Saubhagya scheme

Eight more States have achieved hundred per cent household electrification under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana – Saubhagya has helped achieve 100 % electrification to eight more states.
The states are Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram, Sikkim, Telangana and West Bengal.

Fifteen States now have 100 per cent household electrification, according to Power Minister RK Singh. The government is hopeful of achieving the same for every household across the country by December-end. The Minister said, Government is committed to ensuring 24×7 access to electricity for all by 31st March next year.

With the objective to provide access to electricity to all the remaining households in the country, the scheme was launched in September last year .

As many as  2.1 crore connections have been released under Saubhagya so far, stated the minister.

He said, States like Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are left with a small number of un-electrified households and are expected to achieve saturation any time.

He said, achievement of 100 per cent household electrification in the country will be a major milestone in the direction to achieve 24×7 power for all.
