After Shiv Sena, BJP clinch deal with AIADMK

Pratidin Bureau

After sealing an alliance with Shiv Sena, the BJP today closed the deal on its alliance with Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK for the national election.

Tamil Nadu has 39 seats and the alliance is confident of sweeping the poll, said Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who was the main go-between BJP and the AIADMK.

Besides AIADMK, the BJP has also understanding with PMK in Tamil Nadu.

Chief Minister E Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam met with PMK's S Ramadoss, after which it was announced that the smaller party will contest seven parliamentary seats in 39-seat Tamil Nadu.

This is noteworthy that the BJP had renewed its alliance with Shiv Sena for Maharashtra. Shiv Sena has been their longest ally.

The BJP is desperate to grow in the South as they are going to face a stiff challenge in the North. The BJP is also keen to have an alliance with TRS in Hyderabad and Biju Janata Das (BJD) in Orissa. But in both cases, the BJP has lost hope of pre-poll alliance but in post-poll, they are certainly going to be an alliance with them.
