The calamitous rain and Kerala flood has claimed another 14 lives as the death toll in the last ten days has now reached 210. With 43 deaths, Idduki district of Kerala has the highest number of deaths.

"As per official data, 39 people are missing and 133 were injured. Over 7.24 lakh people are staying in five thousand six hundred and forty five camps. The rescue operations to save people stranded in Pandanad in Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Upper Kuttanad, Panthalam and Aranmula, are progressing efficiently," according to report.

Most of the people of Kuttanad have now migrated to Alappuzha and Kottayam since the area is under a water for days.

As water starts to recede from flood affected Ernakulam, rescuers continue working in Kalady and Panayikulam. Efforts are being made to airlift those trapped in Nelliyampathyin Palakkad. Though water level in Periyar has been receding, rivers including Meenachil, Manuals, Pampa and Achankovil are still overflowing.

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the main agenda of the government would be to rebuild and restore normal lives for which a plan is being worked out. He further added all towns, cities and villages hit by the floods would be cleaned on a war footing.
