BJP Snubs Shatrughan Sinha

Pratidin Bureau

The NDA on Saturday (March 23) announced the candidate list for all the 40 seats in Bihar for 2019 Lok Sabha election. In an interesting development, rebel Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha has been dropped from the list. The BJP has instead fielded Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from Shatrughan Sinha's Patna Sahib seat. The BJP and the Janata Dal (United) will contest on 17 seats each and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) on six seats in Bihar.

Other than denying ticket to Shatrughan Sinha, the BJP has also decided to not give Bhagalpur seat to Syed Shahnawaz Hussain. Giriraj Singh will contest the Lok Sabha poll from the Bhagalpur constituency.
The three NDA constituents in Bihar — BJP, JD(U) and LJP — announced the names of candidates for the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies for the coming general elections.

Sinha is likely to join Congress either on Sunday or Monday. Sources revealed that  Sinha's aide's comment "Congress is a better option as it would provide Shatrughan ji the opportunity to be in national politics."
