Chandrayaan-2 set for final orbit-reducing manoeuvre today

Thefinal round of orbit-reducing manoeuvre for Chandrayaan-2 will begin Sundayevening. The scientists at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) aregearing up for the manoeuvre.

Accordingto reports, task will be performed by firing the onboard propulsion system inthe orbiter of Chandrayaan-2. After the manoeuvre the Chandrayaan-2 will reach acircular polar synchronous orbit around the moon at a distance of about ahundred kilometers.

Followingthe final round of orbit-reducing manoeuvre, the new path of the lunar missionwill provide a favourable condition for separation of the Lander Vikram fromthe orbiter on Monday.

Meanwhile,the Lander carrying the rover is scheduled to touch the lunar South Police on 7thSeptember.
