Committee set up to probe into Varanasi flyover collapse starts inquiry

The committees set up by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister to probe into the flyover collapse in Varanasi have started inquiry.

It may be mentioned here that the accident claimed 18 lives and left 12 others injured on Tuesday.

A three-member high powered committee under the chairmanship of Agriculture Production Commissioner RP Singh was set up by the CM to probe into the accident. The committee is expected to submit its report by Thursday.

Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya had also set up a three-member high powered technical committee to ascertain technical reasons behind the accident. The committee has been asked to file its report within 15 days.

A financial assistance of five lakh rupees is being provided to the families of the deceased; the injured are being given two lakh rupees for their treatment.
