Setting example of an apt leader, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik donated a year's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund on Monday pertaining to the damages incurred by Cyclone Fani.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) also announced a release of Rs. 1,000 crore for relief measures in addition to Rs. 341 crore which had been sanctioned by the Centre in advance to the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

Speaking on the urgent requirements in the state, the Cabinet Secretary PK Sinha said that power connectivity needs to be restored on a priority basis because drinking water supply, telephone connectivity and banking operations require electricity.

It may be noted that power connectivity in Bhubaneswar and Puri remains one of the challenges for the state.
