Dalai Lama hospitalized with chest infection

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama was admitted to a Max hospital in Saket in New Delhi on Tuesday with a chest infection. The 83-year-old leader came down from Dharamshala.

Tenzin Taklha, his personal secretary, said the Dalai Lama "felt some discomfort and he was flown to Delhi for a check-up" on Tuesday.

"Doctors have diagnosed him with a chest infection and he is being treated for that. And said that the 83-year-old Buddhist monk is stable now. "He will be spending the next two to three days in the hospital under medical treatment.

Many of his supporters posted messages on social media wishing him a speedy recovery. "Concerned that he has been hospitalised," tweeted Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha. "The world needs him."
